Description

NGC 2359 is an emission nebula located approximately  12000 Ly's away in the constellation Canis Major.  The central star is the Wolf Rayet star WR7 which is the bright star in the center of the blue "helmet".  It is believed to be in a pre super-nova stage and it's interactions with the surrounding molecular cloud have created the bubble and complex bow shock structure of the nebula.  This image is in the Hubble palette with S2=Red, Ha=Green and Oiii=blue.
